Radhošť and the Radegast Statue

Radhošť

The sacred mountain of the Beskydy: the ridge path from Pustevny passes a statue of the pagan god Radegast, and the summit has a wooden chapel of Sts Cyril and Methodius from the 1890s. Legends of old gods and Christian missionaries meet here.

Good to know

A walk up from the nearest car park – allow a couple of hours there and back, wear proper shoes and take water. The chapel or lookout tower at the top keeps its own, often seasonal, hours.
